Men of League Foundation

Tackling the Drought Tour - October 2018

Motivating and documenting social good

Documentary cinematography

As part of the Men of League Foundation's initiatives to promote awareness towards issues in rural Australia with a special focus on rugby league, I accompanied the Foundation to document their Tackling the Drought Tour in 2018. Reaching out to drought-stricken communities in rural and regional NSW in one of the worst periods of drought in the State's history, the tour saw five buses with former and current first grade rugby league players visiting regional communities and providing support.

Responsible for documenting the leg of the tour embracing the Western region of NSW, I accompanied the Foundation through Narromine, Gilgandra and Mudgee where we had the opportunity to interact with the locals and help lift their spirits during trying times. The resulting short-film trilogy were premiered on the Foundation's website following the tour.

Day One

Initial leg of the tour passing through Dubbo and Narromine, featuring a performance of Denis Carnahan.

Day Two

Second day of the tour begins with a Rugby League clinic for young up-and-coming rural stars and then passes through Collie where Mark Tompson relies his emotionally charged bush poetry.

Day Three

The Western region portion of the tour closed in Mudgee; mingling with the locals and showing support during hard times.

Filmed and released in October 2018.

Cine Gallery

Three days of documentary cinematography.

In addition to cinematography, I was also responsible for crafting still images for the Foundation to be posted on their social media channels during the ongoing tour. Suss out a couple of the highlights below.

These images may be watermarked as they were taken for clients.
